In February of 2006, Budget Environmental Disposal Inc. were contracted by SNC-LAVALIN ProFac to carry out the demolition of a number of structures on the PLS. The structures included houses, clad in both brick and wood, large agricultural barns and various smaller out buildings. As part of the contract, Budget Environmental was responsible for the Level 3 abatement of asbestos in a number of buildings.
The contractor was knowledgeable of both the environmental regulations and demolition procedures. The project was undertaken under harsh winter conditions with a tight timeline for the demolition stage of the project. Budget Environmental completed this stage ahead of schedule in spite of a major winter storm. They were flexible to changes in the project while still maintaining established timelines for the completion of the project.
Budget Environmental Disposal Inc. will be invited to bid in any future demolitions as a result of their successful completion of the difficult and demanding project.
